PLACE: 126 Barrows Hall TITLE: “The Rise of the Modern World in a Water Perspective. A comparison of water-society systems in Great Britain, China and India” Terje Tvedt, professor in global history and geography, University of Oslo and University of Bergen, Norway. He has published extensively on the River Nile and its historic role in African development and British imperial policies. He is Series Editor of the nine-volume series “A History of Water” (IB Tauris), and has also written and presented three award-winning documentaries on the role of water in society; A Journey in the History of Water, A Journey in the Future of Water and The Nile Quest. His lecture will discuss one of the chapters in his forthcoming book: “Water and Society”.
