Kate’s PhD research examines the role of climate change in exacerbating water stress and food insecurity in urbanized and highly irrigated basins in the Andes mountains. Her research builds upon work in Chile analyzing water security implications of glacier retreat as a Fulbright Fellow and the distributional impacts of rural-to-urban water transfers for her MSc thesis. Kate also currently works as a research assistant on net zero policy and a seasonal guide and educator in Antarctica.
Kate previously worked for the Union of Concerned Scientists in California and as an assistant to small island developing states in UNFCCC negotiations. She holds an MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management from the University of Oxford and a BA in Earth & Environmental Sciences and History from Wesleyan University. Kate is an NSF InFEWS Fellow.
